This Comcast Business account has several billing problems that cost money every month. The contract expired in September 2022, and the account has been on month-to-month pricing for more than 2.5 years. A suspended line has still been billed for 14+ months. Equipment rental fees have topped $1,800 on hardware worth about $80 to $120. Just fixing the ghost line, rental fee, and FUSF issue could save about $80 to $100 a month without changing active service.
Line #6 (614-555-0198) was suspended in February 2024 but has kept billing at $30 a month. About 14 months of charges, around $420, were billed for a line that was not working. Submit a written cancellation now and ask for a credit back to February 2024.
The 36-month contract expired in September 2022. The account has been on post-contract month-to-month pricing for 31+ months. Term contracts for 200 Mbps business internet often run $90 to $150 a month. This account pays $199 a month, about 33 to 55% more for flexibility it likely does not need.
The Cisco DPC3939 modem has been rented since March 2019. That is 73 months at $24.95 a month, or about $1,821 total. A similar business modem or router sells for about $80 to $150. The rental fees are 12 to 23 times the hardware value.
The $31.92 FUSF charge on the broadband service is noted as disputed on the invoice itself. FCC guidance has historically limited FUSF to voice/telecom services. This charge warrants a formal dispute. Call 1-800-391-3000, reference FCC Order 19-78, and request removal or credit.
The $11.95 Comcast Business Administrative Cost Recovery Fee is a carrier surcharge, not a government fee. Review it against your MSA. If it is not clearly listed in the original service agreement, ask to remove it at the next renewal.
At $19.95 a month, Business WiFi Pro adds $239 a year for something you may replace with a one-time purchase of a business access point, often $150 to $350. Check if you really need the managed service.
