Most people have never heard of Everstream. That is fine. They are not trying to sell you a phone. They sell fiber to businesses in the Great Lakes region, and if you have an office in Cleveland, Detroit, or Columbus, they belong on your quote list.
Here is the short version. Everstream owns and operates about 32,000 route miles of fiber across Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin. They are based in Cleveland. They light their own glass. They do not resell somebody else's network. That last part matters more than it sounds.
Why owning the fiber matters
When a carrier owns the fiber to your building, three things get better. The price gets better because there is no middleman. The install gets faster because there is no coordination with a wholesale partner. And the support gets better because one company owns the whole path.
When a carrier does not own the fiber, you get quotes that look great on paper and take 120 days to install. Then when something breaks, your rep has to open a ticket with the underlying provider and wait.
Everstream is on the good side of that line in most of the Cleveland metro. Same story in Detroit and Columbus. In markets where they do not own to your building, they will still quote, but the price and timeline start to look like everyone else.
What they sell
The core product is dedicated internet. Symmetric speeds from 100 Mbps up to 100 Gbps. Point to point and point to multipoint wavelengths. Dark fiber if you want to run your own gear. SD-WAN and DDoS on top if you want the managed layer.
They do not sell voice as a headline product. They do not sell TV. They do not sell to your house. This is a commercial fiber shop, and that focus shows up in the sales cycle.
What the pricing actually looks like
From what we see in the Midwest, a 1 Gbps symmetric circuit from Everstream in a lit building runs about $650 to $1,100 a month on a three year term. A 10 Gbps runs about $1,800 to $3,200 in the same conditions. Construction changes everything. If they have to trench to reach you, add anywhere from $8,000 to $80,000 in one time cost, or a higher monthly to amortize it.
Compare that to Spectrum Business fiber in the same cities and Everstream is often 10 to 20 percent under on the raw MRC. They are almost always faster to install when the building is lit.
When to call them
Call Everstream if:
- You have an office in Ohio, Michigan, western Pennsylvania, Indiana, Illinois, or Wisconsin
- You need symmetric bandwidth above 300 Mbps
- You care about uptime and want a real SLA with credits that actually mean something
- You are renewing with Spectrum, AT&T, or Comcast and want a real second bid
Do not call them if you need one 200 Mbps cable line for a small retail spot. That is not their product. You will get a polite no or a quote that does not make sense for your use case.
How to run the quote
Ask for the on net address list for your zip code first. If your building is on it, the process is fast. If it is not, ask what the construction estimate looks like before you go deep. Get the same speed quoted from two other carriers in the market. Put all three on one page. Then negotiate.
We do this every week. Half the time Everstream wins on price. The other half they lose but push the incumbent down 15 to 25 percent, which is still a win for you.
